Year 2008 celebrated the at-least 100th anniversary of the appearance of the mechanical combination for hang gliders: the cable-stayed triangle control frame (TCF) with hang glider pilot hung tethered behind the TCF. The mechanical combination was used in various aircraft throughout the 1900s and continues into the 2000s. Will there be a replacement?   Ideas are welcome.

Otto Meet 1971  Virtual Plaque Project  and also World Landmark Project in California is underway under the leadership of hang glider historian Neil Larson.    Were you there?  Do you know someone who was there?

Snippet from our 1979 V6 N4 HGM   hosted by the EnergyKiteSystems.net  for us. Thanks.

Some activity is in the files  Lift monthly.

Launch methods continue to evolve.  Assist from gravity, wind, water, friends, animals, tiny electric motors, releaseables, and more.  HGM is ever open to your launch notes.

HG structure doubly used for ultracapacitor is feasible. The basics are taught in patents. The very parts of a hang glider may be structured to serve double purpose, one of which could be the storage of charge for use in launch assist and landing-emergency assist.  The ultra-capacitors could be recharged during the flight via photovoltaic processes, RATs processes (ram-air turbine), and pilot-movement power (keeping the XC thighs agile, awake, healthy ...ending in safer awareness and health at the end of long flights).

Flying line streamlining and implied cares for inspection, packing cares. total system cost/benefit, moisture, dust, maintenance of part integrity, etc.    Notes are welcome.

High Hats dimension slice through hang glider universe?  What could be said about "high hats" ?  Try your hand at high hats.

Flying-line assembly status in real time?     Notes are welcome.

Urban demonstration flight parks challenges/benefits?   Notes are welcome.

Elevator to a sky launch?  Be pulled up to HG launch platform that is set in sky in airborne wind energy conversion systems (AWECS). The AWECS is generating electricity, but the entire system also holds a platform for use by hang glider pilots. Part of the wind-gained power operates the elevator system to bring HG and hang glider pilot to the launch platform. Make your checks. Wait for a passing thermal and launch off the AWECS-provided HG launch platform. Feasible this is. Explore the AWECS developments through KiteEnergySystems

Self-kite launch; take all gear with you in your self-kited-launched hang glider (leave no significant footprint on the ground or water)?   Be able to repeat such launch at next landing places. Travel the world this way. Be part of solving this system.  Shape morphing may be part of one of the solutions.  Notice that several avenues are open:                     [Notes are welcome.]
     1. Kite the HG first and pilot goes up later to join the wing.
     2. Pilot kites up with wing.

Re: Windsports web: "I read online yesterday"- on Greblo’s site that Playa Del Rey Dockweiler Hang Glider Flight Park is the finest training site in the “world.”  Neil Larson, manager of the Otto Meet 1971 Plaque and Landmark Project wrote the very first letter to the Los Angeles County Board requesting that the site be set aside for use as hang glider sport training.      Source: communication with Neil Larson, May 11, 2010.

Wind-launched hang gliders?   What could that mean?  Aim to find 10 ways to use wind to launch hang gliders.       [Send notes]

Keep sending those notes in!   Thanks from all.
